Sun down on the sorry day
By nightlights, the children pray
I know you're probably gettin' ready for bed
Beautiful woman, get out of my head.

I'm so tired of the same old crud
Sweet baby, I need fresh blood.

Student Information
Name: Ana Van der Witt
Nicknames/Aliases: None
Gender: Female
Race: Vampire
Age: 25
DOB: June 5, 1982
Physical Description: Ana is of average height for a woman at 5'6''. While curvy, her build is slim, though certainly not frail. She has shoulder to mid-back length dark hair, which is quite wavy. Her hair is definitely her crowning glory and she spends a good deal of money and time tending to it. Her skin tends to be fair, and she has a very clear complexion; would be an odd thing for the make-up and skin care obsessed young woman to have a complexion that wasn’t. She does wear make up on a normal basis, but it is light with the intention of accentuating her natural features. Her pale blue eyes are one of these features. She sees the one ‘problem’ of her features as her small lips and uses her talents with make up to draw the attention away from that area of her face.
Distinguishing marks: None; plastic surgery is a modern wonder.
Birth Location: Gilford, New Hampshire
Personality: The one word that would describe Ana is determined. Everything she does, she does to the fullest. Her pursuit of her life goal – building a successful make up and skincare line – is dauntless. She takes every obstacle in stride and no opportunity is overlooked, whether it be schooling, mentoring or even networking. Ana is hardly all work and no play. Her illness after the accident as a child has left her with a lasting need to live her life to the fullest. No new experience goes untested – rollercoasters, fast cars, drugs, sex – all are fair game. She figures that she must try everything at least once when she gets the chance, because she may not get the chance ever again. And while her time is no longer limited by mortality, she cannot help but continue that outlook at this time.
Personal Background
Ana was born only minutes after her sister Ava. Because their parents were busy tending to their financial empire, the twins were very close growing up. The most obvious clue to this being the ‘twinspeak’ they developed and spoke to each other on a frequent basis. In fact, they often befuddled their various caretakers by plotting in their ‘twinspeak’ right in front them. While many other twins lose this secret language with age, Ana and Ava continue to speak their version even into adulthood.

While their parents were not often at home, the Van der Witts did make certain that those responsible for the children were the best men and women for the job. As a result, the twins felt the love of a family, even if it were a family of nannies, cooks, gardeners, and even maids, as opposed to blood relatives. Like most families, there were occasional disagreements, and one day when the Van der Witts were actually home, Ana and Ava were having a little tiff. No one really understood why, as most of the fighting was shouted in twinspeak, but in the end, Ava refused to go on the family outing. Ana was fine with that; her sister was being imperious and now she got Mumma and Daddy all to her self. For an entire day no less! It wasn’t long into the ride to the country, though, that Ana began to miss her sister, and imagined her older twin all alone and bored, with only Mary the maid with whom to play. She asked her daddy to please turn around and get the reluctant twin, and with a knowing chuckle, he agreed. It was on the way back that disaster struck. Ana never saw the truck that slammed into the family car. Or at least she doesn’t remember it. She doesn’t remember anything about the accident. She only remembers that there was a time when she was sleeping when she was alone, and then there was the time when she was sleeping when her sister was there. And from that point on, she was always there.

Later, Ana was told that she was in a coma for over a month. Her parents had been pronounced at the scene, and it took several days for the paperwork to be sorted out before Ava was to be allowed in the hospital. From that point on, no one could separate the twins. Ana’s vitals would drop if Ava were away from the room for more than a few minutes. Upon first waking, Ana could neither speak nor even move. She was badly burned over the majority of her body, and she had suffered even several strokes from all the bleeding in her brain. It was feared that she would be permanently brain-damaged. But Ava went through everything with her. All the physical therapy, all the re-teaching.. Ava was right there. It took months and months, nearly a whole year before she could care for herself even minimally, but she was able to return home and continued to heal with Ava’s help.

Spending so much time in hospitals and with doctors, physical therapists, and losing nearly an entire year of her life, made the young girl thirst for every adventure she could find. Their appointed guardian, an older aunt, did nothing to help quell this thirst. She was overprotective, keeping Ana on bed rest far beyond the necessary time. While Ava despised Aunt Margaret for the unfair treatment, Ana simply went ahead and did as she pleased when their aunt wasn’t looking. It was during this time that Ana discovered her love of anything daring. She could not even walk properly yet and she insisted that Ava help her sneak out of their window and out into the woods. Nothing would hold her back.

This outlook lasted through Ana’s childhood and into her teens. Of course, by then, the dares were no longer simple little adventures into the woods. Now they were death-defying races down seldom-used logging roads or partying at a friend’s house while the parents were off in Europe for a week. It was at one of these parties that Ava introduced Ana to Mike. Mike could get his hands on any drug, and was surprised that Ana, daredevil she was, had never tried anything. With that, he made it a point to introduce Ana to every sort of recreational chemical available. Ana, of course, took what was offered and soon found that she enjoyed the high of heroin more than any other. It wasn’t long before she was shooting up frequently, and with the limited funds their aunt granted them, she was soon associating with less desirable elements to fill her habit. Other than the company she kept, however, she showed no signs of distress. She may have been a bit thinner, what from all the energy she got from her high, but otherwise, she kept her grades up and kept her other commitments fulfilled.

Upon turning 18, the twins received the funds that had been held in trust for them. It was a good thing, too, because Aunt Margaret never would have approved of Ana’s choice to pursue a career in the world of fashion and make up. Ava’s dislike of their aunt had only grown, recognizing Aunt Margaret’s greed for what it was. Ana, ever a bit more naïve than her sister, had believed their aunt when she had said that her hands were tied. However, now that she no longer controlled the funds, Aunt Margaret’s true nature became apparent as she set upon the twins to pay her back. Both twins agreed to return the request with resounding finger raised in the air.

As soon as she graduated, she and Ava bought an apartment in New York City and Ana attended Arrojo Cosmetology School. She threw herself into her studies, but continued to feed her addiction, attending parties that seemed sometimes to last all weekend. Because both twins were caught up in their own rather wild lives, it seemed that neither noticed the danger facing the other, which was rather unfortunate. Although they lived together, their schedules prevented them from seeing each other all that often – Ana had classes during the day and Ava partied at night. Each was sleeping when the other was awake. It wasn’t so much that they had grown apart, not on purpose, anyway, as that their lives prevented them from actually being with each other for any amount of time. They each had something of their own to attend to. While Ana was always careful, she was terrified of getting sick like she like she had been after the accident, and so she made sure to have herself screened for blood-borne illnesses on a regular basis. She wasn’t ashamed – she was hurting no one else, so all the self-righteous straight-edgers could shove it. But her risky behavior had consequences and one day, shortly after graduation, a test came back positive. It nearly killed her to wait the six months for the second test before telling her sister, but when it came back positive, she completely fell apart. She couldn’t become bedridden again, dependent on doctors and nurses, or even her sister. Not when she had so much to do. She had just signed on to work for Lancôme’s NY branch. She felt totally hopeless. Nothing mattered if she couldn’t get better. Ava promised her she could help, but Ana didn’t believe her. Not until Ava introduced her to Saul. Apparently, they’d had a thing for a while, and Saul could help her.

It was then that Ava revealed that Saul was a vampire. Ana was skeptical, but when she met Saul, she knew it was the truth. Eagerly, she agreed to be turned, and to go to a supernatural school to become well-trained in the new abilities that would be bestowed upon her. So long as Ava was going to be with her, she didn’t care. After both twins were turned, Saul realized that perhaps turning two childer at once was not the greatest idea he’d ever had. Ana was entirely too reckless – she’d stay out much too close to sunrise and did not do her best to keep her identity hidden from humans. She would get herself killed or reveal herself, and thus, him. Having more than enough patience after living for centuries, he determined that it would be much easier to send the twins to the school where others could train them. He could wait. When Saul proposed that the twins go to the school for supernaturals, Ana jumped at the chance. She needed to learn how to blend with humans so she could get back to her position at Lancôme. However, it seemed like it wasn't meant to be. Shortly after arriving, during the break, an incident occurred at the school, causing it to close. This did not mean they could go about their normal lives, though. Saul sent them on to the Detention Center to finish their schooling. As dull as it was, Ana agreed - she still wanted her job back.
